Welcome to the second edition of 2 Dudes I Met This week. Before to much ado dudes can be female. It is just coincidental that these 2 dudes are not female.
At the weekly PONG meeting I saw George Gesior give a presentation on AI. I am not sure where I fall on the topic of AI. I think I am closer to Elon Musk and Stephen Hawking but George gave me some interesting insights into what I am going to call the new definition of AI.
George confirmed my thought that all this AI stuff is really just the natural advancement of data processing. He talked about how AI has moved from OCR to voice recognition to picture recognition. While I agree all of these are great things, AI had meant to me something that has to pass the Turing test. Since none of these computer abilities could pass the Turing test, I have come away with a better understanding of what AI means in today’s vernacular. I also highly recommend talking to George about AI. He is easy to listen to and has a deep understanding of the topic.
Later in the week I went to the DreamBank in Madison. Here I got to see Josh Klemons. I can only describe the experience as being connected to the fire-hose of blog knowledge for 90 minutes. Josh went through an excellent presentation on all things blog. Why, How, When, How Often, Tone, Architecture, and many more topics that were both enlightening and entertaining.
Since the meeting I have looked through some of the resources he gave us and the best one is of course his website. Check it out, it has a wealth of knowledge and way to drip feed yourself on telling your story using a blog.
