It has been quite a while since my last post, almost 2 weeks. I guess the dog days of summer got to me and I spent a little more time outside. This week however will not disappoint. I met 2 pretty awesome dudes. Since it has been a while please remember dude is not a gender, it is a state of being.
Steve Clemetson
On Monday morning Steve Clemetson presented at PONG. Steve is a a dynamic speaker who talked about DISC. He gave us a simplified version of the assessment and talked to us about the the different types. He used humor and great stories to help us understand how to use the different types in order to better drive our job search and interview process. I think the best parts of his talk were however the part where he called me a moron (well not really he said more on that later but being a bad listener I thought I was a moron) and the part where he explained why I’s are not very good poker players.
Steve owns a company called Percipiant. As a master six sigma black belt he has certified thousands of people as green and black belts. He is an engaging speaker and trainer. I highly recommend Steve as a resource for your leadership team.
Terri Phillips
More years ago than either of us care to admit. I met Terri Phillips when our sons were playing basketball. This week we had coffee and discussed the businesses that we own. Terri’s has been around for 10 years so she had a lot of advice for me. I was able to help her out a little but the biggest thing we discussed was “co-opetition”. I was so happy to hear that Terri has put together an informal networking group of peers who run small businesses. I have been trying to do this on my own with little success. I can’t wait to get involved with her group. It should be a great resource.
Terri is also in the process of updating her brand. It is currently very non-profit centric and she is looking to branch out into more for profit engagements. She is a top notch strategist, facilitator and project manager.
As always if you don’t have time to meet either of of this weeks dudes feel free to sign up for a coffee or lunch with me here. I would be happy to talk more with you about why you should talk with them.
